Black Heritage Bike Tour
Traces of the colonial and slavery past can still be found in several cities in the Netherlands. Rotterdam is no exception. During our festival, we’ll be offering a bike tour that stops at various monuments and sites throughout the city to reflect on Rotterdam’s colonial history.
Although many buildings associated with the city’s colonial and slavery history did not survive the bombing of Rotterdam, research shows that there are still many visible traces of this history in the city.
For those who have participated in the tour in previous years, it’s good to know that this year we’ll be cycling through Historic Delfshaven and other parts of Rotterdam West.
Come along for a bike ride, listen to guide Erik Broekhuizen, and join in a conversation about the past and the present.
