Led by choreographer Rhodes Karismatik from Ivory Coast, two dance master classes will take place at the Bijlmer Parktheater For dance professionals and students at arts schools.
As a young dancer with no formal training, Rhodes made his way into the professional world from 2006 to 2010 by collaborating with influential dancers from the Congo, such as Ferre Gola and Tresor Mvoula. In Rhodes’ work, there is a reciprocal exchange of positive influence between his artistry, the rhythm of daily life, and trends within the community. The result is authentic works in which Africans and the African diaspora can see themselves reflected.
In 2016, Ngoyi Milandou Rhodes founded the Karismatik Project dance company. This company specializes in contemporary African dance styles and has grown into a well-established company in Ivory Coast. Rhodes is the winner of the 2022 award for Best Choreographer in Ivory Coast. The “Primud” prize is a prestigious award in Ivory Coast that is presented annually in Abidjan.
